A wonderfully complex and broad nose displays broad ranging aromas of red berries, warm earth, underbrush, humus and a hint of animale. The big-bodied and almost painfully intense flavors brim with dry extract that lends a highly textured and mouth coating deposit on the driving, austere and stunningly long finish. This too is among the very best examples of Clos de Vougeot that I have ever tasted chez Leroy and this includes comparisons to the astonishing 2002 and 2008 versions. Note however that lots of patience will be required as this is built for the very long haul. - BH
